SUMMER HORSE CAMP
WATERDOGS
Rising 3rd to 6th Graders
Campers will spend the entire morning programing block(9:30am to 12:30pm) with the horses all 5 days of camp. They will learn basic horsemanship skills like: horse safety, brushing and saddling the horse, and introductory riding skills. Riding will be a mix of lessons that take place in the arena and on trail rides. Offered for Day and Resident Campers every week.

DUSKIES
Rising 6th to 9th Graders
Campers will spend the entire afternoon programing block(1:45pm to 4:30pm) with the horses all 5 days of camp. They will learn basic horsemanship skills like: horse safety, brushing and saddling the horse, and introductory riding skills. Riding will be a mix of lessons that take place in the arena and on trail rides. Regular Dusky Horse Camp is offered for Day and Resident Campers every week. Intermediate and Advanced Dusky Camp is only offered certain weeks,

INTERMEDIATE DUSKY HORSE CAMP
For campers with some riding experience(rider is balanced and in control of the horse and their body at the trot) who are looking for a little more challenging week of horse camp. This is a great camp for Dusky riders who have been long time summer horse campers but may not ride much outside of summer camp. Campers will get the chance to expand their horsemanship skills beyond what is taught in regular Dusky Horse Camp. Riders will practice more trotting skills in the arena and on the trail. Cantering will occur at the discretion of equestrian staff.

ADVANCED DUSKY HORSE CAMP
For campers with ample riding experience(rider is balanced and in control of the horse and their body at the trot, canter and over jumps) who are looking for a challenging week of horse camp. Explore other riding disciplines like dressage and barrel racing. Riders will practice trotting, cantering and jumping skills in the arena and on the trail. The week will culminate with a bareback ride in the lake.
CAMPERS MUST SUBMIT A CURENT RIDING VIDEO AND/OR A LETTER FROM THEIR RIDING INSTRUCTOR SAYING THEY HAVE THE APPROIATE SKILLS TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS CAMP.

HIGH SCHOOL HORSE ADVENTURE
Rising 9th to 11th Graders
Saddle Up! Riders will enjoy an off-site horseback adventure. Riders will start out at Chestnut Ridge and then travel to Averett University, located in Danville VA, which will serve as their base for riding and fun. Campers will stay on Averett's campus and have their meals in the University dining hall. They will spend their days receiving lessons, learning general horsemanship, and caring for the horses. Campers will also get the chance to explore the surrounding area when not riding.
Off-Site Trip to Averett University Cost:
$1495
Riders need to have ridden a horse before and be confident at the walk and trot. Averett University will assess riders at their facility and riding activities may vary based on skills.
HSHA Camp is for girls only this year.
