The Preschool at Chestnut Ridge...

is a half-day outdoor program, in session from 8:30am-12:00pm.
serves children ages 3-5 (and potty-trained) in a multi-age classroom with a teacher:student ratio of 1:6.
is in session from Monday through Friday, with full week and part-week class options.
runs from September through May and follows Orange County School's yearly traditional academic calendar for Teacher Workdays and holidays

Registration for the upcoming school year typically launches in January of that year. Currently enrolled/returning families are given priority to renew their commitment for the following year, including younger siblings. We then go through enrollment applications in the order that they were received. If any spots still remain, they will then be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Sample Daily Schedule

8:30 - 9:30 Arrival and self-directed play in interest areas

9:30 - 9:45 Snack (provided)

9:45 - 10:00 Whole group time

10:00 - 11:45 Camp adventure

11:45 - 12:00 Storytime & dismissal

As an outdoor program, the vast majority of our class activities take place outside, except in the case of inclement weather. In severe cold, wind, or rain, we will still go outdoors. On these days, we shorten our outdoor play time and use an indoor space as needed.

We go to the Community Farm for our outdoor adventure once a week (once every other week for our 2-day and 3-day students) and the Equestrian Center once a month.
