Homeschool Adventures
Come join us and let us add an environmental educational component to your home school curriculum!
Our outdoor classroom encompasses 377 acres of beautiful forests, fields, streams, ponds and wetlands.
Classes are designed to help integrate Next Generation Science Standards while incorporating learning about the natural world using play based discoveries, scientific inquiry and in-depth field studies. We also add Art and Literature components because beauty and creativity surround us.
Depending on the topic, students may observe live animals, collect aquatic creatures, take measurements of water quality, design and/or build habitats or play games illustrating cycles and relationships among living things. Parents can also take home activities, suggestions for further study, and recommended readings from many of our classes.
iNaturalist, Carolina HERP atlas and other citizen scientist websites/apps will be incorporated into the program
The Homeschool Adventure program is offered as a series of six different two-hour long visits to Chestnut Ridge. These programs will be offered once per week with a Fall of 2017 and an Early Spring of 2018 series.
