Thanks to volunteers from Elon University, the Duke Youth Academy, McMannen United Methodist, and the Burlington District Confirmation Retreat, camp is looking better than ever! While many think of the winter months as "dormant," those of us at Chestnut Ridge have seen a flurry of activity. Since January, we have hosted several volunteer groups who have participated in service projects throughout the camp. Projects have included: the initial construction of the vermiposting center (read: worm composting, generously funded by Weaver Street Market), building additional raised beds in the camper garden, cutting wood for campfires, repairing and expanding fencing for the trail horses, cleaning building exteriors, and mulching landscaped shrubs. Volunteers worked side by side with camp staff as we shared good conversation, meaningful work, and good laughs. Volunteers are an integral part of the ministry at Chestnut Ridge, and we extend our heartiest thanks to these groups for their commitment to service.
