Chestnut Ridge

Chestnut Ridge extends its deepest sympathy to Dr. Bill Petit, Jr., his extended family and the Hawke family on the tragic loss of Jennifer Hawke-Petit and daughters Hayley and Michaela.

Bill Petit shares that his wife Jennifer, and his two daughters, Hayley and Michaela, were all very active in the Cheshire United Methodist Church, from Sunday School to the Lazarus Production to the annual Christmas Living Nativity to Vacation Bible School and the UM Army.

Hayley lived James statement: FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD and Michaela liked Gandhi's YOU MUST BE THE CHANGE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN THE WORLD. Jennifer did a marvelous job in molding their attitudes and approach to service...I know Jen would have loved to be the RN at camp and Hayley could have been a counselor-she loved VBS. KK would have loved to be there running around with all the kids. She smiled all the time and always stuck up  for anyone she felt was unfairly treated. She was vegetarian from birth (I have no idea how)-and would have wanted salad, Mac and cheese or pasta everyday. -Dr. Petit

Jennifer's sister, Cindy Hawke-Renn, a Chapel Hill resident, member at University United Methodist, and preschool teacher at Orange United Methodist, has graciously established The Petit Family Memorial Fund to honor her sister and nieces. The fund will enable children and youth to attend camp programs at Chestnut Ridge, thereby making a positive difference in their lives. Donations will fund scholarships for campers in need and support the overall ministry of the center as a place of hospitality and community.

Checks should be made to Chestnut Ridge with "in memory of the Petits" in the memo line.
