God created the Earth, the sea, the skies and everything in it. Chestnut Ridge is the perfect place to experience God’s creation first hand, with 362 acres of forest, a 10 acre lake, a flowing stream, an abundance of wildlife, and an organic garden. We believe it is our responsibility to care for God’s creation and one another through sustainable living practices.
At Chestnut Ridge, campers learn about many ways to care for God’s creation, including gardening, composting, recycling, forest preservation, water conservation and vermiposting. Within this framework, campers will learn that each of our actions, no matter how small, make a difference. We encourage one another to begin to put practices in place that make a positive difference in the world.
Putting our faith into active practices expands beyond the scope of the garden and creation as it encompasses all areas of our lives. Campers learn how their actions impact their relationship with God, their relationships with one another, and their relationship to the earth. We encourage you to talk to your children about their experience at camp, and in particular about food, faith, and farming.
