In 2006, over 160 campers came through their local churches to experience camp and life together. For many years, churches have brought elementary age children to Chestnut Ridge to participate in worship, crafts, swimming, canoeing, Bible study, games, hayrides and other activities through the Church Day Camp program. In 2006, over 160 campers came through their local churches to experience camp and life together. Our church day campers and their local church leaders are important partners in the summer camp ministry and we would like to thank the leaders at the following churches for their commitment to providing a summer camp experience for the children in their congregation and community:
Bellemont UMC: Richard Booker Many thanks to the congregations for encouraging their children to participate in this unique ministry. We heard great feedback from our campers, such as: “This was the best week of my summer!” They enjoyed all the activities, strengthened friendships within their groups and experienced God in this unique setting. One young camper from McMannen shared that he felt closest to God at camp when he was canoeing….thanks be to God for teaching us through all that God has made! |
